  • Tax deductions: NRIs/OCIs filing Indian returns can claim Section 24(b) interest (up to ₹2 lakh, self-occupied) and Section 80C principal (up to ₹1.5 lakh) under the Old Tax Regime.
  • Rental income: If you let the property out, the rent is taxable in India and the tenant deducts TDS — but you can set off the full home loan interest against rental income.
